Tickets are now on sale for our Stiles + Drewe Prize gala event at London's Savoy Theatre on Sunday 11th June.
We will be giving £1,000 of development money to the winners of our prize for Best New Song (now in it's 12th year) as well as announcing the recipient of our 2018 Mentorship Award, generously supported by Music Theatre International Europe. Both will be given to members of Mercury Musical Developments.
The afternoon will include the 12th Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year competition (aka SSSSPOTY). This annual competition sees 12 of the UK's finest students of musical theatre and drama compete for a £1,000 prize by singing a Sondheim song of their choice.
Heading up the panel of judges is critic and broadcaster Edward Seckerson. The Musical Director is Mark Etherington, and directing the afternoon’s entertainment is Chris Hocking. Expect a glittering line-up of judges, plus a celebrity host: previous guests have included Imelda Staunton, Janie Dee, Giles Terera, Julian Ovenden, Elaine Paige and Jenna Russell.
It's a wonderful afternoon of Sondheim classics and new musical theatre writing, performed by the UK's best young talent – an event not to be missed!
